May 7 will have elections for area City Councils and School Boards, plus Mayor of Brownwood and the Brown County Water Board.  The filing deadline for all races is this Friday, February 18.  Listed below are the various positions to be elected, the current office holder, and candidates filed as of Wednesday morning.  Information on where to file for each race is also included.

BROWNWOOD

Mayor:  Currently held by:  Stephen Haynes.  Candidates filed:  Stephen Haynes

City Council:  Currently held by:  H.D. Jones (Ward 1) and Draco Miller (Ward 4).  Candidates filed:  H.D. Jones and Draco Miller

Candidates can file at Brownwood City Hall, 501 Center Ave., by Friday at 5:00 p.m.

EARLY

City Council:  Three seats.  Currently held by:  Leland Acker, Benny Allcorn, and Charles Matlock.  Candidates filed:  Leland Acker, Benny Allcorn, and Charles Matlock.

Candidates can file at Early City Hall, 960 Early Blvd., by Friday at 5:00 p.m.

School Board:  Three seats.  Currently held by:  Rob Welker, Bobby Brinson, and Shawn Russell.  Candidates filed:  Andrew Paredes Castanuela.

Candidates can file at the Early ISD Central Office, 101 Turtle Creek Dr., by Friday at 4:00 p.m.

BANGS

City Council:  Three seats.  Currently held by:  Marisa Craddock, Anita Purcell, and Sheila Roberts.  Candidates filed:  Marisa Craddock, Danny Marney, Waymond Sheppard, and William Loyd.

Candidates can file at the Bangs City Hall, 109 South 1st St., by Friday at 5:00 p.m.

School Board:  Three seats.  Currently held by:  Eric Lykins, Jerry Roberts, and Dennis Sanchez.  Candidates filed:  Dennis Sanchez, Sandy Lehman, Joshua Purcell, Jennifer McCoy, and Brooke Loyd.

Candidates can file at the Bangs ISD Central Office at 200 E. Hall St., by Friday at 5:00 p.m.

BLANKET

City Council:  Three seats.  Currently held by:  Scotty Ishom, Alley Jones, and Dominique Suentzenich.  Candidates filed:  Scotty Ishom and Dominique Suentzenich.
