AUSTIN – Reigning Class 2A boys golf state champion Walt Thompson of Goldthwaite is alone in first place midway through the 2025 UIL Class 2A boys golf state tournament at Lions Municipal Golf Course.

On Monday, Thompson fired a round of 68, one shot clear of second-place Ty Chrisman of Centerville (69), two ahead of Zack Armes of New Home (70), and three ahead of Weston Fischer of Sonora (71).

Meanwhile, the San Saba Armadillos are in ninth place after a Monday 348 team score.

Competing for the Armadillos are Winton Lackey (80), Shooter Wright (87), Sterling Proffitt (90), Skyler Romero (91), and Kolton Pierce (94).

The final 18 holes of the two-day, 36-hole event will be played Tuesday.
