Funeral services for Vicci Devery Jenkins will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 5, 2021, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Slaymaker officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Vicci Dorothea Devery Jenkins, age 70, went to be with our Heavenly Father and received her crown on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021. She was a devoted wife, mother, Mimi, and Christian woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family ask that you not mourn her departure but celebrate in the victory and assurance knowing that she has gone to join her husband Kenneth Glenn Jenkins in the arms of the Lord.

Vicci was born on August 14th, 1950 to Edward Michael Devery and Lillian Louise Devery of Brownwood. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Jenkins, from Melvin, Texas, on June 16th, 1973.  They had two children during their marriage: Austin Michael Jenkins of Blanket, and wife Vicky Jenkins and Amber Michelle Villalpando, and husband Gary Villalpando of Brownwood. She had five grandchildren who she loved dearly and they called her Mimi. They are Charity Jenkins, Trynten Slaughter, Ryan Jenkins, Ethan Keeney, and Zoe Jenkins.

Vicci and Kenneth spent the first years of their marriage as owner/operators of the Brownwood Floral. Brownwood Floral was owned by her parents Ed and Lill Devery. Vicci continued working after the floral shop closed for Dr. T. Ward Locklear, whom she loved dearly. She continued working in the medical field in medical records for over 20 years and retired from Brownwood Regional Medical Center lab several years ago.

Vicci had several friends who she considered her family, Nancy Childers, Karen Mullins, Suzann Coffey, Dr. Deanna Belli, and the Nay sisters. Mary Chris Ragsdale Nix and Vicci were crib babies together and grew up to become sisters.

She is survived by her two children, Austin and Amber, nephew Eddie Devery, III, cousins Cel and Cindy Rutledge, and her beloved dog Milly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Glenn Jenkins, her parents Edward and Lillian Devery, her brother Edward Devery, II, her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Hans       Schroeder, and her aunt Dotty.

Memorials may be sent in memory of Vicci to Corine T. Smith Animal Center.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
