EARLY – The Early Lady Horns evened their District 8-3A volleyball record at 1-1, and moved to 6-4 overall with a straight-set victory over Comanche, 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 Saturday.
“The girls played with heart today and pushed through the put them away in three,” said Lady Horns head coach Natalie Whitewood. “We moved extremely well today and put together a complete game. Things are coming with the first district game behind us. We settled down and played like champions today.”
Taylor Summers led Early with seven kills followed by five from Alexa Portillo, three from Carrigan Norris, and two each from Grecia Yebra and Savannah Holt.
Summers also dished out eight assists, Bethany Tomlinson contributed seven, and Gwen Phillips added one.
Norris and Summers both served three aces, Tomlinson and Tori Wood-Rush added two each and Grace LaRue tacked on one.
Defensively, LaRue tallied six digs followed by four from Norris, three each from Summers and Madie Waldorf, two by Wood-Rush, and one each by Tomlinson and Portillo.
Holt recorded all four blocks for Early.
The Lady Horns are back in action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when Brock visits.
