fishingLevels at the lake have dropped off again since last week at Lake Brownwood.

The Brown County Water Improvement District’s website shows that Lake Brownwood is currently 6.70 feet below spillway level which is about an inch lower than last week’s level.

The fishing still seems to be good for the most part as the weather is cooling and our first taste of fall has come in.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department released its weekly fishing report for Brownwood which states:

Black bass are excellent on Bass Hogg inline buzz frogs and 3/16oz. Pig Sticker Shaky Heads with Grande Bass 4″ redbug and watermelon/chartreuse tailed Trickster worms along the docks, rocks, and near brush piles in 2 – 8 feet early and 8 – 16 feet later, and on topwater frogs, torpedoes, and Pop-R’s on main lake flats near grass. Hybrid striper are good trolling hellbenders near the Woodsman of the World camp. White bass are good on Li’l Fishies off lighted docks at night. Crappie are good on Li’l Fishies and minnows over brush piles in Little Rocky Cove in 10 – 20 feet, and under lighted docks at night. Channel catfish are good on cut bait and nightcrawlers over baited holes in 12 – 22 feet. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch and worms in 5 – 14 feet.

he Texas Parks & Wildlife release fishing reports each week for many area lakes.  View their website at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/
