Joye Marie Horton

Joye Marie Horton, age 84, of Weatherford and formerly of Brownwood passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Weatherford.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at the Coggin Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Hurt officiating.  Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Horton was born November 5, 1933 in the Victory Community in Runnels County, Texas the daughter of the late Russell Moore Burton and Willie Herdon Burton.  She attended schools in Runnels County and later in Taylor County.    She attended Howard Payne and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and later graduated from Howard College where she received her Registered Nurse license.  She worked at Brownwood Regional Hospital as a nurse for over 25 years and formerly worked at the sewing factory and local nursing homes.  She retired in 2003 and has lived in Weatherford with her daughter and her husband since 2011.

While in Brownwood, she was a member of Coggin Ave. Baptist Church and attended the North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford.  She was a member of the garden club which she enjoyed very much.

She is survived by her son, Joe Stovall and wife Brenda of Brownwood, Randy Stovall of Anson, and James Stovall of Abilene, her daughter, Heidi Snell and husband Lincoln of Weatherford, two sisters, Brenda Erwin of Lake Tawakoni and Linda Wolfe of Benbrook, and a brother Marty Burton of Paris, Texas.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Colby Stovall, Kelly Stovall, Dustin Stovall, Jason Stovall, Monica Stovall, Shiloh Stovall, Alisha Johnson, Brittany Johnson, and Jessica Ruiz; as well as 18 great grandchildren.
