DIAMOND ROUNDUP: Lady Horns, Dragons, Tigers collect Tuesday victories

Early Lady Horns 17, Dublin 0

DUBLIN – The Early Lady Horns are halfway through a flawless run to a District 8-3A softball championship as they closed the first session of league play with their 10th consecutive victory, 17-0 over Dublin Tuesday night.

The Lady Horns (18-4, 7-0) scored three runs each in the first and second innings, four in the third, and seven in their last at-bat in the top of the fifth.

Aided by eight Dublin errors, Early also generated 16 hits, led by three from Jamie Vassar who homered and drove in two runs. Kyleigh Caperton also recorded three hits, including a triple, and an RBI while Sydney Greaves and Jaime Lyon both notched a pair of singles with one RBI. Adysn Atchley finished with two hits, while Sunny Groom singled and drove in three, Aleeya McCombs and Paizlee Scott both doubled and knocked in two, and Andie Simpson singled and picked up an RBI.

In the circle, Atchley tossed a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and five walks, while the Lady Horns committed one error.

Early starts the second half of district action at Millsap at 5 p.m. Friday.

Bangs Dragons 7, De Leon 6

BANGS – Trailing 4-0 and later 6-2, the Bangs Dragons scored the last five runs to defeat the De Leon Bearcats, 7-6, in District 7-2A baseball action Tuesday night.

Bangs (4-9-1, 1-2) drew even at 6 with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Dragons overcame four errors with five hits – three by Conner Bible, who doubled once; one by Jaxon Duncan, who drove in three; and one by Rex Guerrero. Kason Klutts tallied two RBIs without the benefit of a hit, while Jackson Edmisten and Heath Laughlin both recorded one RBI, also without a hit.

On the mound, Klutts and Trapper Estess combined to allow one earned run on seven hits with 10 strikeouts and five walks.

Bangs will head to De Leon (8-6-1, 2-1) at 7 p.m. Friday to complete the district series.

May Tigers 18, Gorman 0

MAY – Playing their first game in 17 days, the May Tigers pummeled Gorman by a 18-1 count Tuesday afternoon.

May (4-1) led 5-1 after one inning, 12-1 after two, 14-1 through three, and tacked on its final four runs in the fourth frame.

The Tigers’ 21-hit onslaught included four and two RBIs apiece from Lane Goodson, Kaden Watkins and Brody Stice; three and an RBI from Hunter Seider; two and an RBI from Jackson Lusk; one and a pair of RBIs from Kayden Psencik; and one hit from Maddix Raffel.

On the mound, Goodson tossed a no-hitter, allowing an unearned run with 12 strikeouts and one walk. The May defense was credited with one error.

The Tigers next face Cross Plains on the road on Friday, April 3.
