Logan Flores tossed four innings and did not allow an earned run, but was tagged with the loss as Brownwood (5-13, 0-1) looks to rebound when it visits Stephenville (16-6, 1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday

The Brownwood Lions drew four walks and tallied four hits, but were unable to push a run across the plate as they suffered a 4-0 loss to the Stephenville Yellow Jackets in the District 6-4A baseball opener for both teams Tuesday night at Morris Southall Field.

Garrett Wilkerson drew three walks for the Lions (5-13, 0-1) while Shaxton Simpson also picked up a free pass and doubled as well. Robbie Robinson, Wyatt Wolf and Harrison Sweaney each contributed a single for Brownwood.

On the mound, Logan Flores worked four innings and allowed four runs – none earned – on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk. The Lions defense committed a pair of errors behind him. Blayne Stegemoller tossed three scoreless with no hits allowed, no strikeouts and no walks.

Stephenville (16-6, 1-0) scored all four of its runs with two outs in the top of the fourth inning – two runs on errors and a third on a passed ball.

The Lions will visit Stephenville at 7 p.m. Friday to wrap up the two-game district series.
