ShirleySullivanMay2016The Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers announced the selection of their May 2016 Volunteer of the Month. During the June 2016 Meeting of the BRMC Volunteer’s executive board, BRMC Volunteer Shirley Sullivan was honored as the May 2016 Volunteer of the Month.

Shirley Sullivan joined the BRMC Volunteer Organization in February 2013. She volunteers in the BRMC gift shop where she assists patients, their families, as well as BRMC staff and medical center visitors in the selection of gifts and personal items. Shirley enjoys making a visit to the BRMC gift shop a pleasant experience to everyone she meets. She always greets everyone with a smiling face. Shirley has over 1,000 hours of volunteer service at Brownwood Regional Medical Center

The Volunteer of the Month Award is awarded by the BRMC Volunteers each month during the year. Recipients of the award receive recognition and lunch at the executive board meeting held in the month following the month for which they are selected. Shirley Sullivan was also recognized as being the May 2016 BRMC Volunteer of the Month with a framed Volunteer of the Month certificate, a red rose in a bud vase, a gift card for a dinner at a local restaurant, and a carrying bag emblazoned with a large heart containing the statement “A Work of Heart.” The carrying bag contains items that celebrate The Texas Association of Healthcare Volunteers motto for 2015 – 2016 “Remember those who cannot remember; knowledge empowers caregivers.” This motto emphasizes the need to improve everyone’s knowledge of the disease “Alzheimer’s.”

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a volunteer and are actively soliciting new members. Those interested in volunteering a minimum of 6 to 8 hours per month, BRMC volunteering will meet their needs. BRMC Volunteer applications may be obtained in the BRMC gift shop, at the front entrance information desk, online at http://www.brmc-cares.com or by calling the BRMC Volunteer office at 325-649-3399 or emailing the BRMC Volunteers at brmc_volunteer@brmc-cares.com and stating that you would like to become a BRMC Volunteer.
