The Howard Payne Lady Jackets capped off a grueling stretch of four games in five days with a statement win Tuesday night, defeating LeTourneau University 72–55 inside the Brownwood Coliseum.

After a back-and-forth opening half, Howard Payne pulled away in the third quarter with a 20–8 advantage, using crisp ball movement and defensive energy to seize control. The Lady Jackets finished the night shooting an efficient 59 percent from the floor (23–39) and out rebounded LeTourneau 36–19.

Caitlyn Parsons led the way for HPU with a double-double performance of 15 points and 10 rebounds, dominating the paint on both ends. Caitlyn Panuco added 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Taylor McAfee and Madison Clay each chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Off the bench, Kate Buchanan provided a strong spark with nine points and seven boards, and Amaris Ambriz added seven points, including a key three-pointer during HPU’s second-half surge.

Defensively, the Lady Jackets held LeTourneau to just eight points in the third quarter and forced 17 turnovers. Howard Payne also showed poise at the free-throw line, converting 21 of 32 attempts.

With the win, the Lady Jackets improve to 2–2 overall, wrapping up an exhausting early-season homestand that saw them play four games in five days — all in front of their home crowd.

“This stretch has tested us physically and mentally, but I’m proud of how our girls have battled through it,” said head coach Rodney Gee. “They’ve shown toughness, chemistry, and the will to compete every night. This win was a great way to close out the homestand.”

The Lady Jackets will return to action on November 20 in Abilene, Texas, against McMurry University before returning home on Friday, November 21 at 5:30 p.m. to host Austin College.
