2016BunnyRunLogoThe ARK Domestic Violence Shelter (The ARK) is hosting their first ever 5K run at Comanche City Park at 1200 Comanche Trail in Comanche on March 26th.  This is a fun run for the whole family with finishers for male and female in age divisions 12 and under, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. The race is chipped timed, and participants can go online to www.racedayeventservices.com afterwards to get their final time. Pre-registration now available by downloading a registration form from The ARK website at www.arkshelter.org and mailing it in to 2900 Coggin Avenue, or by registering online at www.racedayeventservices.com.  For those who register before March 16th, the fee is $25 for runners 18 and over and $15 for runners 17 and under.  Entries received by March 16th are guaranteed a T-shirt.  All proceeds from the run will go to The ARK.

The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter (The ARK) provides a safe place for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their families from three counties; Brown, Coleman and Comanche.  While fundraisers have been held regularly in Brownwood and for the past two years in Coleman, this is the first time The ARK has ever held a 5K run and the first fundraiser in Comanche.

“By reaching out into the counties that we serve, it allows the communities to have more ownership in The ARK,” Executive Director Terri Densman said. “You not only learn more about The ARK, you become more aware that you are part of the solution to the problem of domestic violence in our area.”

“We encourage you to come out and run, or walk the distance and just enjoy the day as a healthy way for the entire family to support the efforts of The ARK,” Densman added.  The public can participate in many ways, such as being a 5K runner, making a donation to The ARK or by volunteering to help work at the event.  For more information, please call the administration office at 325-643-2699.

The race day gets underway at 8:00 am with registration from 7:00 – 7:45 am.  Pre-registration fee is only $25 for runners 18 and over and $15 for runners 17 and under. On race day, it is $5 more.  Runners are given a bib and a chip for the run.  After the race, the results will be online. For more information, go to www.racedayeventservices.com.

For more information about The ARK or the services provided by The ARK, please contact the ARK at 325-643-2699. You can also go online to: www.arkshelter.org.
