Doris Nell Spurgeon

SpurgeonDorisDoris Nell Dodgen Spurgeon, 70, of Coleman, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Hendrick Medical Center.  Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Ronnie Lane officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Doris was born November 11, 1945 in Gustine, Texas to Fred Dodgen and Doris Duke Dodgen.  She grew up in Comanche County and Coleman County.  Doris married Gary Spurgeon on November 11, 2004 in Coleman.  Doris worked for Dry Manufacturing, Wilson Grain and for the last 15 years, was the bookkeeper and office manager at D&R Automotive.  Doris was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Ronnie S. Lane and wife, Kellie, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Lori Maxwell and husband, Lewis, of Buchanan Dam; five grandchildren, Josh Dempsey of Abilene, Stephanie Dempsey of Abilene, Kristin Wilson of Plano, Alyssa Byrd of Groves, Macee Lane of Odessa; two great grandchildren, Grayson Dempsey of Coleman, Ian Wilson of Plano; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a special cousin, Ginger Ransberger of Coleman.

Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, on March 24, 2007 and two brothers, Lloyd Dodgen and Freddy Dodgen.

Memorials may be made to the Loaves and Fishes Ministry in Coleman or the Coleman Senior Center.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
