Austin Wright (7) finished with three hits and two RBIs at the plate and tossed a complete game on the mound for Brownwood (11-14, 3-4), which looks to secure its first district series sweep at 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Glen Rose (14-12, 1-6).

GLEN ROSE – After failing to score in two games last week, the Brownwood Lions offense roared back to life and secured a critical 10-2 road victory over the Glen Rose Tigers in District 6-4A baseball action Tuesday night.

With the win, the Lions (11-14, 3-4) and Graham (13-9, 3-4) are now tied for third place in the district standings behind league co-leaders Brock (19-2, 6-1) and Mineral Wells (14-8-1, 6-1). Stephenville (16-8-2, 2-5) and Glen Rose (14-12, 1-6) are currently on the outside looking in at potential playoff seeds.

In Tuesday’s victory, the Lions tallied three runs each in the top of the first and second innings, and tacked on another three-spot in the sixth after scoring a single run in the fifth.

Brownwood produced 15 runs as offensive standouts included Austin Wright and Jack Field, with three hits and two RBIs apiece; Robbie Robinson and Wyatt Wolf with a pair of hits and one RBI each; one hit and two RBIs from Noah Gonzalez; a hit and one RBI from Dario Rodriguez; and singles from Mason Milwee and Brodie Greer.

The Tigers mustered just single runs in the first and seventh innings as Wright went the distance on the mound and yielded the two earned runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

The Lions will look for their first two-game district series sweep as they host Glen Rose at 7 p.m. Thursday at Morris Southall Field.
