DIAMOND ROUNDUP: Early softball, May baseball extend win streaks

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns avenged a third consecutive District 8-3A softball loss as they run-ruled Tolar, 13-3, Tuesday.

With the win, Early (16-8, 7-6) moved over the .500 mark in district play with one contest remaining Thursday at Dublin.

Against Tolar, the Lady Horns tallied 10 hits – three from Andie Simpson, who drove in four RBIs; two from Jamie Vassar, who plated two; a pair apiece from Marissa Reedy and Aleeya McCombs, and one and an RBI from Jordan Simmons. Kyleigh Caperton and Sydney Greaves both finished with a pair of RBIs without a hit, and Rylee Tupin also drove in a run minus a hit.

In the circle, Greaves notched the win as she allowed three earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and three walks. The Early defense committed just one error.

May Tigers 12, Eula 2

MAY – The District 7-A champion May Tigers remained undefeated on the season with a 12-2 home win over Eula Tuesday.

The Tigers (9-0-1) scored three runs in the first inning, four in the second, one in the third and four more in the fourth frame. Eula crossed the plate once in the first inning and once in the third.

May’s nine-hit attack included two each from Lane Goodson and Ben Harrell and one apiece by Hunter Seider, Brody Stice, Kaden Watkins, Kayden Psencik, and Tyran Perry. Harrell also drove in two runs while Seider, Stice, Goodson, Watkins, Psencik and Perry added an RBI apiece.

On the mound, Seider and Harrell combined to surrender one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Millsap 11, Early Longhorns 2

EARLY – The Early Longhorns’ two-game District 8-3A baseball win streak was snapped by Millsap, 11-2, Tuesday.

Early (6-14, 4-7) led 1-0 after one inning, but Millsap scored the next nine runs before the Longhorns crossed the plate again in the bottom of the fifth.

The Longhorns collected just five hits – one each by Caden Wilson, Brayden Moya, Jack Nowell, Jaxson Stockman and Lawson Barron. Nowell had the lone RBI for Early.

On the mound, Barron and Chris Ivy gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and two walks. The Early defense committed four errors behind them.
