Lady Horns place 2nd at 8-3A track meet, Longhorns come in 6th as a team

DUBLIN – The Early Lady Horns chalked up 108 points, which left them in second place behind only champion Comanche (149), at the District 8-3A track and field meet earlier this week. Meanwhile, the Longhorns produced 42 points, good for sixth place, behind Peaster (179), Breckenridge (161), Eastland (90), Comanche (69) and Tolar (67).

A total of 16 entrants from Early – 12 on the girls side and four on the boys – will compete in the 7-3A/8-3A area meet at Jacksboro on Thursday as the top four qualifiers in each district event advance. The Lady Horns won three district championships while the Longhorns collected a pair.

Point-producing results for the Lady Horns and Longhorns are as follows:

LADY HORNS

1st place

Matty Boswell in the 100-meter hurdles (15.85)

Ellie Shea in the discus (124-2)

Jamie Vassar in the shot put (41-6)

2nd place

Grey Pruett in the 200 meters (26.39)

Grey Pruett in the high jump (5-0)

Jamie Vassar in the discus (120-11)

3rd place

Kynli Skaggs in the 100 meters (13.04)

Steely Fielder in the 300-meter hurdles (51.99)

Kelcy Simpson in the high jump (J4-8)

Ellie Shea in the shot put (33-9)

4×200 relay of Grey Pruett, Kailyn Gallardo, Kynli Skaggs and Matty Boswell (1:49.99)

4th place

Jordan Rutherford in the triple jump (33-6.5)

Aislin McCleery in the 400 meters (1:02.65)

Kailyn Gallardo in the long jump (15-3.75)
