Buddy Gene Reeder

ReederBuddy Gene Reeder, 75 of Thrifty, formerly of Sidney and Blanket, passed away at his home in Thrifty, on Wednesday June 25, 2014. Funeral services, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home in Brownwood, will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 28, 2014, in the Netherton Chapel. Interment will follow in Blanket Cemetery with Bro. David Barnum officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday, June 27, 2014, at the funeral home. Buddy was born January 7, 1939, in Sidney, Texas, to George and Janie Odell Reeder. He attended and graduated from Sidney High School. After school, he went to work for a construction company building roads. Buddy later decided to start his own company and began working in home construction. He started Reeder Dry Wall and was self-employed, working for 50 years. Buddy married Kathryn Sue Bridges in Comanche May 31, 1959. Buddy loved to fish, mostly trotlines, and was always coming home with a lot of fish. He played fast pitch softball for area teams for many years and was well known for his fast pitches. Buddy loved music, playing and singing, leading this band the Texas Country Buddies. He played both lead and rhythm guitar. Buddy really loved his church. He attended and was a member first at Brownwood Evangelism Center and later Grosvenor Baptist Church.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Reeder; son, Shannon Reeder of Thrifty; daughters, Wynnett Williams and husband Buddy, of Goldthwaite, Tressa McGlasson and husband Johnny, and Sherry Carr and husband David, all of Thrifty. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 19 Great grandchildren and very close sidekick, Shamah, a 13 year old Pomeranian. Buddy was preceded in death by parents, George and Janie Reeder; brothers, Bobbie Lee and Billy Joe Steele.
