Evelyn Poteet

Evelyn Poteet, 87, left this world to her eternal home Thursday, June 19, 2014, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She had been a resident of Brownwood since 1993. She was born February 13, 1927, in Brownwood, Texas, to Charles and Noddie Rex Hester.

Evelyn and Marvin Poteet were married in Brownwood, Texas, on August 11, 1994. Marvin passed away January 8, 2014.

She is survived by her children, John W. Leist of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Larry D Leist of Springville, Ariz., Marilyn Lopez of Pearsall, Texas, Patricia Kermode of Kaufman, Texas, and Carolyn Towery of Spring, Texas; step-children, Jess Poteet of Wichita, Kan., Stephen Poteet of Weatherford, Texas, and Lynn Parton of Westminster, Colo.  She has 48 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sister except for Johnny Hester of Lewisville, Texas.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Evelyn was an active member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Justice officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Friday at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas.

Heartland Funeral Home Early, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
