All Three Brown County Cities Finish Fiscal Year with Sales Tax Increase

The Texas Comptroller’s Office posted the September sales tax allocations this week.  Brownwood and Bangs had increases in sales tax collections in September.  The City of Early was down in September, but had the largest increase percentage for the fiscal year among the three Brown County cities.  September sales tax allocations reflect taxable retail sales in the month of July 2023.  Details below.

CITY OF BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood collected $573,616 in September, an increase of 7.14% over September 2022.  For the fiscal year, which is now complete (October 2022 through September 2023) Brownwood collected $7,316,945, an increase of 8.96% over the previous fiscal year.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $191,222 in September, an increase of 8.37% over September 2022.  For the fiscal year, the Brownwood MDD received $2,368,725, up 8.40% over the previous fiscal year.

CITY OF EARLY

The City of Early received $191,172 in September, a decrease of 18.48% vs. September 2022.  For the fiscal year, Early collected $2,728,767, an increase of 13.35% over the previous fiscal year.

The Early Municipal Development District received $65,440, a decrease of 18.57% vs. September 2022.  For the fiscal year, the Early MDD collected $894,091, an increase of 13.27% over the previous fiscal year.

CITY OF BANGS

The City of Bangs received $18,995 in September, an increase of 14.99% over September 2022.  For the fiscal year, Bangs received $248,470, an increase of 9.23% over the previous fiscal year.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $2,811, an increase of 10.76% over September 2022.  For the fiscal year, the Bangs MDD received $36,068, an increase of 7.97% over the previous fiscal year.
