Dorris Ann Hamlett, 89, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Monday, September 11, 2023. There will be a private family ceremony at a later date.
Dorris was born December 18, 1933 in Wellington, Texas to Lanthe (Starkey) and R. L. Hawkins. She graduated from Bangs High School and worked for GTE over 35 years. Dorris was blessed with 4 children to raise and cherish. She loved to work in her yard and was meticulous about everything, but it was always beautiful. Dorris spent a lot of time sewing, but she loved it. She made the kids clothing all through school. Her sport of choice was bowling, she played on a league and logged a perfect game “300” in her time. She also loved to dance, she found rest in staying busy bowling, dancing or making her yard look pretty as a picture.
Dorris is survived by her daughters, Denise Maltby and husband Jay of Denver City, Texas, DeAnn Colvin and husband Bobby of Brownwood; son, Benjamin L. Hamlett and wife Carol of Coleman; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 7 great- great grandchildren.
Dorris was preceded in death by a son, Bobbie Lee Hamlett.
