Countdown To Reunion: Photo Contest

reunionlogoThe Brownwood Art Association in conjunction with the 2009 Brownwood Reunion Celebration will be holding a photography exhibit and competition this year.

The exhibit for this competition will be displayed at the Brownwood Art Association’s Art Center located at 215 Fisk Ave in Downtown Brownwood.  Subject matter should loosely reflect the 1950’s theme of this years Reunion such as cars of the era, clothing & fashion, music, architecture, trends of the time, etc.

The sale of art work is encouraged, but is not mandatory.

Requirements are as follows:

  • A maximum of three entries can be submitted
  • The entry fee of $5 per entry must be paid at time of entry
  • All entries must be matted or framed for display purposes.  Framed images need to be wired for hanging.
  • Due to a limited display space, the max size with any matted, gallerywrap or framed image is 24×27 inches.  The minimum size with matted and/or framed images must be 5×7 inches.

Entries for the competition will be accepted at the Art Center on Saturday, September 12th between 8am – noon.

The exhibit will be at the Art Center beginning Friday, September 18th through Saturday, September 26th.  Hours of the exhibit will be:

  • Friday 18th   5pm to 8 pm
  • Saturday 19th   10am to 6pm
  • Sunday 20th   Noon to 5 pm
  • Monday 21st – Saturday 26th   10am to 2pm.

A reception and awards presentation will be held at the Art Center on Friday, September 18th from 6:30 to 8pm.

Prizes will be awarded by age group as follows:

  • 1st Place – 12 years and under – $50
  • 1st Place – 13-18 years – $100
  • 1st Place – Adults – $200
  • Two Honorable mentions ribbons will be awarded for each age group.
  • A People’s Choice Ribbon will be awarded based on the votes received by the viewing public.
