The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Friday morning:

On Thursday, May 25, at approximately 2 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the 400 block of E. Commerce and 19-year-old Emily Ann Duffy of Early was identified as the driver.

While speaking with Duffy, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle.  Duffy provided consent to search the vehicle and a clear baggy of suspected marijuana was located inside the glove box.  Additionally, a Taurus 9mm pistol was located under the front seat.

Duffy was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. She was transported to the Brown County Jail.
