Dorothy June (Gerdts) Broughton, 73, of Early, Texas passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022. A visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in the Zephyr Cemetery officiated by Donna Crenshaw.

Dorothy was born January 21, 2022 in Clarinda, Iowa to Harry and Mary Gerdts. She attended Plattsmouth High School in Nebraska, graduated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1973, graduated Howard College school of Nursing as a Registered Nurse 1992, worked with EMS in 1975 and worked for Brownwood Regional Medical Center from 1974 until retirement in 2007. She continued working at Bangs Nursing home in long term care after retiring from the Hospital. Dorothy married Sam Broughton after high school and they enjoyed bowling in leagues locally. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She dedicated her life around all her grandkids, they were her whole world.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Denise Porter of Early; granddaughters, Sabree Minard and husband Robby of Goldthwaite, Hailey Ogle and husband Cody of Comanche, Stormie Porter and Jarrett Donica of Brownwood; sisters, Lois Nash of California and Carolyn Morgan of Washington; 4 great grandchildren, Elvin Ogle, Skylee Minard, Hudson Ogle and Jaxson Donica; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Broughton and sister, Edith Anderson.
