Author Jan Sikes describes her work as “a passionate love story set in the rowdy raucous honky-tonks of Texas in 1970” which she states is a true story based on her life shared with husband Rick Sikes.

A book signing will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Brownwood Music, located at 201 W. Baker in Brownwood.  Sikes will be signing autographs and seeing many old friends.

Sikes is a new author, although not new to writing. She has written songs, poetry, screenplays and short stories.  Growing up in a small dusty town on the Texas-New Mexico border, she and her sister found adventures untold through avidly reading books (many times late into the night, under the covers, with a flashlight).  Little did she know all of that reading was early training to become an author.

Her years of being married to Rick Sikes proved to be the launching pad for her writing career.  After his death in 2009, she got serious about it and the result is the book “Flowers and Stone.”
