Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has released its Class A Division I preseason Top 10, and the two-time reigning state finalist May Tigers again make an appearance.

The Tigers, coming off a 14-1 campaign, are No. 3 in the poll, while May’s new District 14 rival Jonesboro ranks No. 4. The Tigers defeated Jonesboro, 84-55, last year in the playoffs and the two teams will meet Oct. 28 in Jonesboro this season.

Defending state champion Westbrook, which held off May, 72-66, in the state final, is the top-ranked team in the poll. Abbott, which May defeated by a 50-48 count in the state semifinals a year ago, comes in at No. 2.

The rest of the Top 10 features Garden City – which plays at May on Sept. 16 – at No. 5 followed by No. 6 Rankin, No. 7 Happy, No. 8 Borden County, No. 9 Turkey Valley and No. 10 Irion County, which May knocked off 68-20 in the opening round of the playoffs a year ago.
