Matt Person, age 81, of Brownwood passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at a local nursing facility.

Graveside Services for Matt will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Bangs Cemetery Tabernacle with Bill Slaymaker officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Matt was born on November 3, 1940, to Jerome Jr. and Thelma (Gallaway) Person in Clay City, Illinois. He worked for Brownwood Glass and Mirror for 35 years. He married the love of his life, Linda Gholson, on July 30, 1966, in Brown County.

He loved hunting, fishing and just being outside. He also enjoyed playing his harmonica and listening to music. Matt was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whom will be missed by all that love him.

Matt is survived by his son, Jason Person and wife Tracy of Brownwood; 4 grandchildren: Carly Person of Brownwood, Dylan Person and wife Meagan of Brownwood, Ryan Layton, and Banner Loos; 2 great-grandchildren, H’ynlsee and Jade Layton; 4 sisters, Tommie Folck of CO, Betty Ragsdale and husband Don of CO, Nancy Boyd and husband Felix of Early, and Sandra Wardlow of Houston. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Linda Person; and his parents.
