According to the Brownwood Police Department, on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at approximately 9:08 pm, first responders with the Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance Service responded to a citizen report of a pedestrian hit by a car.

Officers arrived in the 3700 block of US Hwy 377 South where they located a vehicle pulled to the side of the road.  Lying on the side of the road a short distance away, they discovered the pedestrian, 65 year old Johnny Dean Scaff of Brownwood.  Life saving measures were attempted to no avail.

Justice of the Peace Doug Hurt responded to the scene and pronounced the time of death as 9:13 pm.  Blaylock Funeral home was contacted.

The Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers are assisting in the investigation which is still ongoing.
