A small white passenger car and a motorcycle almost collided on Saturday afternoon at the corner of Parkway and Southside Drive; however the motorcyclist was injured after taking evasive action to avoid a collision.   Witnesses on scene said that the driver of the car saw the cyclist and stopped to avoid a crash, never striking the motorcycle or its rider, who swerved and was injured after sliding on the street.

Shortly before 1:00pm, the car approached the yield sign at Parkway at the intersection of Southside and did not initially see the motorcyclist.  Witnesses said that the car started to move forward but once she saw the cyclist, she stopped, and avoided striking the bike.

Another person who witnessed the accident stated that although the car stopped, the motorcyclist took evasive action and swerved, causing the motorcycle to slide on its side.  This witness stated that she checked on the injured driver, who stated that his hip was in pain.  The witness stated she said a prayer over the man and helped call his wife to notify her that he was injured.  The motorcyclist was also reported by witnesses not to be wearing a helmet.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.   The extent of his injuries were unknown at the time of the accident.  He was reported to be conscious and alert, talking at the time he was transported.

Brownwood Police, Brownwood Fire Department, and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
