Multipurpose Event Center resolution on City Council agenda

The Brownwood City Council will meet Tuesday morning, October 13, at 9:00 am at City Hall Council Chambers.

They will consider a Resolution ratifying the Brownwood Municipal Development District’s funding of the design, procurement and construction of a multipurpose event center at an estimated cost of $7,900,000 and related expenses, including property acquisition, demolition and parking, at an estimated cost of $1,000,000.

The Council may also consider approving a contract with BRW Architects for the design and inspection of the procurement and construction of a multipurpose event center.

Any citizen who desires to address the City Council on a matter not included on the agenda may do so at this time. The City Council may not deliberate on items presented under this agenda item. To comply with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Council respectfully requests that prior to addressing Council that each person submit a citizen presentation form that is located at the entryway to the Council Chambers, stating your name, address, and topic of presentation. All presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.

9. Public Hearing
A. Conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinance on first reading changing the zoning classification of the property located along Longhorn Drive and Mustang Drive, from R-1 single family residential district to C-1 local business district.
B. Conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinance on first reading to close a 70′ wide street known as North Broadway in the Brownwood Proper Subdivision, Block 16 and 17, beginning at the east right-of-way of Pecan Street and continuing east approximately 200′ to the dead end.

A. Consider authorizing the City Manager to give notice to the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce that it will not renew or extend the existing Hotel Occupancy Funds contract beyond April 1, 2021 and authorize the City Manager to re-negotiate the HOT Contract with the Chamber.
