It is with great sadness and deep faith that we announce the passing of our beloved Edwin E. “Ed” Baker, who passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 at the age of 92, surrounded by family and prayer.

Graveside services will be held on May 13, 2026, 2:00 pm in the Cleveland Cemetery Chapel, 351-399 County Road 206, Santa Anna, Texas.

Ed was born on April 2, 1934 in Burkett, Texas to James A. Baker, Sr. and Lillie Cason Baker. On January 29, 1954 he married the love of his life, Shirley F. (Bigham) Baker in Coleman, Texas. Together they were blessed with four children, Edwin, Diana, Victor and Lucy.

Ed lived a life defined by faith, kindness and devotion to God. His compassion reached far beyond family, touching friends, neighbors and anyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ed was employed by Martin Brick and later retired from 3M after many years of dedicated service. He loved and cherished spending time with his family and friends, doing yard work, bowling, and always ready for a game of chess, dominoes and 42. He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 496 in Coleman, Texas and a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

Ed is survived by his children Diana Baker House and Victor Baker and wife Twila, grandchildren Jordan Holt and husband Brandon, Jessica Medcalf, Clay Baker and Cason Shane House and wife Kylee; as well as seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillie Baker, his wife of 62 years Shirley Baker, one son Edwin R. Baker, one daughter Lucy F. Baker and one grandson Larry Kasberg. He was the 16th child and was preceded in death by nine brothers and eight sisters.

Though he is gone from this world, we take comfort in knowing he is now rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
