Tightly contested races for the Bangs City Council, Bangs ISD Board of Trustees and Early ISD Board of Trustees were determined Saturday by a handful of votes.

In the race for the Bangs City Council, seven candidates were vying for three open spots and 785 ballots were cast.

Receiving the most votes – unofficially, as the canvass will be held May 11 – were Eric Bishop with 153, Carrol Wells with 148, and Danny Marney with 140, as they will fill the vacancies on the council.

Also receiving votes were Douglas Drury – who led after early voting totals came out – with 115 votes, along with 113 for Manuel Flores Jr., 73 for Greg Parrott – the lone incumbent running for re-election – and 13 for Justin Rico.

The Bangs ISD Board of Trustees had two openings available as those will be filled by Jason Duncan, with 297 votes, and Blu Tidwell with 269 votes. A total of 877 ballots were cast as Larry Lehman received 234 votes and 77 came in for Robert (R.C.} Lehman.

Two spots on the Early ISD Board of Trustees were open as Sandy Benson ran unopposed for Place 7 and received all 106 votes, while in the ballot for Place 6 Christopher Sharp garnered 63 votes to the 56 for Creig Prickett.
