The Howard Payne University Symphonic Band and the Central Texas Community Band join forces to present the annual American Music Spectacular concert on Tuesday, April 28. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Mims Auditorium on the HPU campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
The American Music Spectacular is a yearly tradition for the greater Brown County community and features Americana-inspired band music including “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” “Salute to the Armed Forces” and a host of other iconic and moving works.
“The American Music Spectacular is such a fun program to present each year,” said Dr. Jonathan Kraemer, director of bands and assistant professor of music. “The music is powerful and contemplative, and what better way to celebrate our nation’s Semiquincentennial than with a program of truly American music. This concert allows us to honor the service of our military personnel and first responders, without whom we would not have the freedoms that we enjoy. We have so much to be thankful for, living in this country, and this evening of music affords us a brief time to pause and reflect upon those many blessings.”
