
JACKSBORO – The Early Longhorns and Lady Horns combined to secured 13 berths in the Region I-3A track and field meet, based on Thursday’s performances at the 7-3A/8-3A meet.
Qualifying for regionals for the Lady Horns were the 4×100 relay of Grey Pruett, Jaycee Lawson, Jordan Rutherford, Kynli Skaggs, who won the area meet in a school record time of 49.52; Jamie Vassar, who won the shot put (40-3) and placed second in the discus (126-10); Ellie Shea who won the discus with a school record distance of 145-8 and placed third in the shot put (35-7.25); Grey Pruett, who finished second in the high jump (5-0); the 4×200 relay of Grey Pruett, Kambry Boyd, Jordan Rutherford, Kynli Skaggs,who placed third in a school record time of 1:47.69; Jordan Rutherford, who came in third in the triple jump (34-10.25); Aliyah Harlan, who was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (49.24); and Kynli Skaggs, who was fourth in the 100 meters with a school record 12.39 time.
Moving on for the Longhorns are Andrew Reedy in the 100 meters; Darryl Watkins in the 400 meters; and Nate Pinkston in the triple jump.
The top four finishers in each event move on to regional meet at Abilene Christian University May 1-2, where the top two finishers in each event will punch their ticket for state at the University of Texas in Austin on Thursday, May 14.
