H.L. was born March 30, 1959 in Riverside, California. He later went on to attend Nations University and received a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies and Ministry. Later in life H. L. married Janell Johnson, on February 6, 2004 and began a life together that blessed them with a wonderful blended family. H. L. also served in the United States Air Force for 4 years from 1978 to 1982. He also worked for Delta Airlines as ground support equipment and maintenance for 10 years before retiring. H. L. also dedicated his time working at Vin Wizard Automation Technology for 3 years as well as being a heavy equipment mechanic. H. L. later went on to own his own facility and maintenance company, H&J Services. In his free time, he also enjoyed the art of jewelry making in which he specialized in working with silver.

H. L. is survived by wife Janell Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; Son Joshua Humphries of Groton, Connecticut; Adopted son Jesse Welsh and wife Kim of Katie, Texas; Step – son Nathan Johnson and wife Alicia of Burleson, Texas; Step – son James Johnson and wife Tara of Blyth, Georgia; Step – son Scott Johnson and wife Ashley of Hurst, Texas; as well as his 12 grandchildren.

H. L. was preceded in death by his father and mother, H. L. Humphries Sr. and Ima Jean Moore; Sister Jeanny K.; Uncle Kenneth Barber.
