No. 12 Early Lady Horns 5, Tolar 2

TOLAR – The District 8-3A champion and 12th-ranked Early Lady Horns remained unbeaten in league play and pushed their win streak to 16 games with a 5-1 road triumph over Tolar Tuesday.

The Lady Horns (24-4, 13-0) trailed 1-0 after two innings, but pulled even in the top of the third inning and grabbed a 3-1 edge in the fourth. Early tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, while Tolar mustered just one more run in the bottom of the seventh.

Early’s offense produced 11 hits – two each by Andie Simpson, Jamie Vassar and Avery Stifflemire, and one apiece by Sunny Groom, Paizlee Scott, Aleeya McCombs, Sydney Greaves, and Adysn Atchley. Simpson, Greaves, Stifflemire and Jamie Lyon recorded RBIs for the Lady Horns.

In the circle, Groom allowed one earned run on four hits with 11 strikeouts – surpassing 100 on the season – with two walks. The Early defense did not commit an error behind her.

The Lady Horns are off until April 24 when they host Dublin in the district and regular season finale.
