October is Fire Prevention Month and the Red Cross is providing free smoke alarms in your home for any Brown County residence on Saturday, Oct. 11. You must call and sign up for the free smoke alarms at 325-998-5925, or you can also sign up at the Senior Citizens Center in Brownwood.

The goal is to install smoke alarms in 100 homes, and the alarms have a guaranteed 10-year life span.
