LEANDER – Blanket Lady Tiger senior Karli Kinkade sits alone in second place at the midway point of the Class 1A girls golf tournament, one stroke off the lead with 18 holes left to play at Crystal Falls Golf Course.
Kinkade opened the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a round of 80 Monday, trailing only the 79 of Audrey Marler of Lenorah Grady. Kinsley Cox of Utopia was alone in third place with an 81 and Rylee Wood of Garden City was in fourth place after an 82. No other golfers shot better than 87 Monday.
Kinkade, the four-time Region III-1A girls golf champion, is seeking her third state medal as she earned bronze as a freshman and sophomore, and placed fourth overall during her junior campaign.
