EULA – The District 7-1A baseball champion May Tigers remained undefeated on the season Monday, sweeping a Class 1A Region I bi-district playoff series from Jayton, 12-1 and 10-3.

In the run-rule victory to start the doubleheader, May gave up a run in the top of the first, answered with four in the bottom half, scored three more in the second and tacked on the final four in the fourth inning.

Tiger pitchers Kobey Morris and Hunter Seider combined to allow just one hit with 11 strikeouts and four walks.

Offensively, May recorded 12 hits led by two each from Seider, Brody Stice, Lane Goodson and Kayden Psencik. Morris, Kaden Watkins, Maddix Raffel and Mikey Scheriger each contributed one hit. Psencik led the team with four RBIs trailed by two from Morris and one apiece from Seider, Watkins and Ben Harrell.

In the seven-run second game triumph, May jumped out to a 6-0 advantage in the top of the first inning. The lead grew to 8-0 in the top of the third before Jayton scored all its runs in the bottom of the frame. The Tigers then tacked on single runs in the fourth and seventh innings.

May amassed six hits – two by Harrell and one apiece from Seider, Stice, Watkins and Psencik. Harrell, Psencik, Raffel, Scheriger and Goodson recorded RBIs, as the Tigers also drew seven walks.

On the mound, Goodson and Morris teamed up to yield three runs on five hits with 12 strikeouts and nine walks.

The Tigers (13-0-1) move on to face either Ira or Roby in the area round of the Class 1A Region I baseball playoffs next week.
