
EARLY – A day after opening District 8-3A baseball action with an 11-1 victory at Comanche, the Early Longhorns fell on their home turf to the visiting Indians, 11-9, Wednesday afternoon.
Early (3-8, 1-1) knotted the score at 3 in the bottom of the second inning, but Comanche grabbed a 4-3 lead in the top of the third that ballooned to 8-3 in the fourth. The Longhorns closed the gap to 8-5 in the bottom of the fourth, but Comanche tacked on two more runs in the fifth to boost the advantage to 10-5. An Early rally in the bottom of the fifth trimmed the deficit to 10-9, but the Indians tacked on a final insurance run in the top of the seventh inning.
The Longhorns finished with 10 hits – three by Eli Pallette, who recorded a pair of RBIs; a single and two RBIs apiece from Jack Nowell and Rowen McDermed; and one hit each from Brayden Moya, Jaxson Stockman, Skyden Stoddart, Brennan Rasor, and Chris Ivy.
On the mound, Moya, Ivy and Lawson Barron teamed up to allow just four hits but issued 10 walks and the Early defense committed eight errors behind them.
Early is back in action Tuesday at home against Breckenridge.
