The Brownwood Freshman Lions remained undefeated on the season with a 21-7 victory over the Stephenville Yellow Jackets Thursday as part of a tripleheader at Gordon Wood Stadium.

The Freshman Lions, who have outscored their foes 325-51 this season, grabbed a 7-0 lead on a 50-yard touchdown run by quarterback Caden Wilson, along with Aiden Jimenez’s extra point, but Stephenville drew even by the end of the first quarter.

The Lions regained a 13-7 edge in the second period on a 39-yard scoring scamper by Wilson, but the extra point failed.

After a scoreless third period, the Lions pushed their advantage to 21-7 in the fourth on a 3-yard run Wilson, who then tossed a two-point pass to Christian Gray. The touchdown was set up by a 38-yard pass from Wilson to Jimenez on fourth down from midfield.

The Lions defense also recorded a goal line stand with a little over two minutes left that allowed Brownwood to run out the clock.

Defensive standouts included Gray with 10 tackles, including three for loss and a pair of sacks; Hudson Fry with six tackles; Blayne Stegemoller with five tackles; CK Vasquez and Hutton Malone with four tackles each; and Brody Bolton, Hudson Deen and Miles Jones chalked up tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
