
The Zephyr Bulldogs dominated the competition at the District 25-A meet, as their six runners finished in the top eight, including sweeping the top five places. Eli Williams placed first in a time of 17:52 followed by Aaron Fagan (2nd, 18:17), Riley McCuller (3rd, 18:49), Spencer Marwitz (4th, 19:02), Reese Hamm (5th, 19:56), Cash Whisenhunt (6th, 20:01) and Slade Butler (8th, 20:15).
Lady Bulldog freshmen Kathryn Williams (6th, 15:22) and Hadley Phillips (8th, 15:34) will join them at regionals after qualifying as individuals.
Also at the 25-A meet, the Brookesmith girls moved on to regionals with a third-place team finish led by Harley Gilliam (3rd, 14:54), Hayden Eisenhauer (13th, 16:11), Ameriah Balleza (18th, 16:49), Brooklyn Haby (20th, 16:59), Hannah Graves (25th, 18:28), Amberlee Langley (27th, 18:38) and Emma Slayton (29th, 19:26).
At the District 21-1A meet, Blanket Tigers placed second as a team to claim a regional berth, sparked by Alex Valdes’ runner-up time of 19:07. Also comprising the team were Cameron Aultman (21:13), Wyatt Meadows (21:39), Kannon Kensing (22:04), and Kade Russell (23:59).
Advancing to regionals on the girls side from Blanket is Audyona Flores with a time of 15:32.
The May Lady Tigers came in third at the 21-1A meet to clinch a regional berth as the team consisted of Chloe Lord, who placed second in a time of 14:37, along with Kenlyn King (5th, 15:24), Jordyn Gerhardt (17:59), Aubree Gerhardt (18:01), and Angie Medina (19:23).
In boys action, May Tiger Mikey Scheriger came in sixth in a time of 19:59 to lock up a regional spot.
And at the District 8-2A meet, the Bangs Dragons notched a third-place finish which secured a regional berth.
Team members include Noe Martinez (12th place), Ben Perez (15th), Jayden Gertsenburger (18th), Jackson Edmiston (19th), Colton Wagner (23rd), Will Hinds (24th) and Mason Minshew (30th).
Outside of Brown County, the Cross Plains boys, Richland Springs girls and Goldthwaite girls all won district championships, while the Cross Plains advanced to regionals with a runner-up finish, as did the Goldthwaite boys after placing third.
On Monday, the Brownwood Lady Lions repeated as District 6-4A champions while the Brownwood Lions earned a third straight regional appearance with a third-place effort.
