Early ISD posted the following information on Facebook Wednesday morning:

The Early Independent School District Board of Trustees is excited to announce that Dr. Joan Otten has been named the lone finalist for the position of superintendent of the Early ISD. She has been serving students in education for over two decades in small and large school districts. She started teaching English at Karen’s High School and then in Corsicana High School. She has also served as the Associate Principal at Mabank High School and English and Social Studies Curriculum Director for Corsicana ISD. Recently, Dr. Otten has been in the Katy ISD in the role of GT and Advanced Academics Director.
Dr. Otten attended the University of Texas at Tyler where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Her Doctorate degree was attained at Abilene Christian University.
The core of Dr. Otten’s education philosophy is centered around serving the whole child, fostering a positive and collaborative culture and ensuring a safe environment for the students and staff of the Early ISD. Dr. Otten stated, “I am looking forward to working alongside dedicated educators and stakeholders to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and the broader community.”
Dr. Otten’s family includes her husband Andy. Three grown sons, and three grandsons.
The Board is required to wait 21 days before a contract can be offered to Dr. Otten.
