The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of May 1:

LAKE BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water stained; 70 degrees; 8.96 feet below pool. Black bass to 8.50 pounds are good on jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits in 3-12 feet of water. Crappie are good along the shoreline out to 4 feet with black and chartreuse and brush piles with minnows in 10-12 feet of water. White bass are good on crankbaits and small swimbaits in the lights late and then slow during the day. Catfish are good on cut or prepared bait around the flats.

LAKE CISCO

GOOD. Water stained; 65 degrees; 11.64 feet below pool. Water is murky after the recent rain, but the fishing is good. Channel catfish are biting cut carp in 5 feet of water. Crappie are good in 10 feet of water on minnows. Lots of bass are jumping chasing minnows on the surface. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.

LAKE COLEMAN

SLOW. Water stained; 68 degrees; 9.49 feet below pool. Crappie are good on jigs at the docks and should be moving back to brush piles.

LAKE O.H. IVIE

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 71 degrees; 31.69 feet below pool. Water clarity is slightly clearing up in the rivers, and clear on the lower end. Largemouth bass are fair to 10 pounds on various chatterbaits, topwaters and soft plastics in 12 feet of water or less. White bass are good, schooling mid lake feeding on shad. Best baits are topwaters, and rattletraps. Catfish are good on the upper end of the lake on stink bait, cut shad and shrimp. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows around hardwood trees in 8-18 feet in The Colorado River. Report by Wendell Ramsey, Ramsey Fishing.

LAKE PROCTOR

GOOD. Water normal stain; 65 degrees; 12.18 feet below pool. Largemouth bass can be caught on soft plastics. Crappie are good in shallow and deep water. Catfish bite has slowed. Hybrid stripers are fair. Ramps are closed, but it is possible to launch a boat from the gravel at Buffalo Springs. Fishing from a kayak is possible.
