Harry H. Hernandez, a beloved member of the community in Coleman, Texas, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Abilene, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service.
Born on March 9, 1957, in Ballinger, Texas, Harry was known for his exceptional skills as a handyman and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Throughout his life, he selflessly assisted the people of Coleman with various odd jobs and tasks, earning him the reputation of being a jack of all trades.
Harry’s dedication to serving others extended beyond his community involvement. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his commitment to his country and fellow servicemen.
In addition to his military service and career as a handyman, Harry was a man of many talents and interests. He attended school in Coleman and later became a proud member of First Baptist Church in Coleman. He was actively involved in the church community and served as a bus driver before his health declined. Harry found joy in gardening, yardwork, social media interactions, and watching movies.
Harry’s passing is mourned by his loving son, Dimas Hernandez of Coleman, who will always cherish the memories they shared together. He is also survived by his brother Clifford Hernandez of Brownwood.
In remembrance of Harry’s life, let us not only mourn his loss but also celebrate the impact he had on those around him. His generous spirit and willingness to help others will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Dimas Martinez Hernandez and Rita Gomez Hernandez; as well as his siblings Lupe Salas, Margaret Gonzalez, Betty Rosales, and Olga Alambar. May he rest in peace knowing that he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private interment will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
