DECATUR – Four members of the Early Longhorns powerlifting team advanced to state due to the regional performances here Friday.

Brooks Clippinger won the 220-pound weight class with a total of 1,610 pounds lifted and was named Best Overall Heavyweight Lifter and Best Deadlifter.

Griffin Cheslock finished second in the 181s with 1,460 pounds lifted to move on, while Jacob Braun came in third in the 275s with 1,555 pounds lifted to punch his ticket.

Izik Delgado rounds out the state qualifiers as he came in fourth in the 198s with 1,400 pounds lifted and qualified by total weight.

Keegan Sherrill placed fourth in the 275s with 1,495 pounds and Dalton Adams was seventh in the 242s with 1,400 pounds as Early placed fifth in the final team standings

The Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Meet will take place in Abilene later this month.
