GRAFORD – Playing their first two games of the Graham softball tournament – which were moved to Graford Friday due to wet field conditions – the Brownwood Lady Lions dropped the first game but bounced back in the second for a first day split.

Brownwood notched its victory over Iowa Park by a 9-7 count Friday afternoon.

The Lady Lions led 2-1 after one inning, 7-1 after two, 7-5 after three, 9-6 through four, and Iowa Park added one last run in its final at-bat in the top of the fifth.

Brownwood generated 10 hits as Chloe Walls tripled, singled and drove in four runs; Tynlea Wilson notched two hits with one RBI; Jakayla Peek singled and drove in a pair; Lila Mares tallied a pair of hits; Trinity Roberts doubled and knocked in a run; Karina Mata also doubled; and Jeniffer Romero singled.

In the circle, Wilson finished with seven runs allowed – all unearned – on six hits with four strikeouts over five innings. The Brownwood defense committed a handful of errors behind her.

The Lady Lions started Friday action with a 12-0, three-inning loss to Holliday.

Brownwood surrendered two runs in the first inning, four in the second and six runs in the bottom of the third.

The Lady Lions mustered just two hits – singles by Romero and Addison Welch.

In the circle, Wilson gave up 11 earned runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks, while the Brownwood defense committed four errors behind her.
