The Hendrick Walker Cancer Center at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood is pleased to announce the installation of our new technologically advanced True Beam linear accelerator for radiation therapy.

The linear accelerator with advanced technology is the latest chapter in the 29-year history of the Hendrick Walker Cancer Center providing excellent and compassionate oncology care to the Central Texas area.

Construction will begin September 18 on an extensive renovation of the radiation therapy area, with completion expected in early 2024.

For the physicians, there are no changes in the referral process for any service offered at Hendrick Walker Cancer Center. The construction will not affect the medical oncology or hematology services. Those treatments will continue at the Walker Cancer Center, along with chemotherapy and immunotherapy office visits and other services related to medical oncology and hematology.

If a referred patient requires radiation therapy, the Walker Cancer Center staff will communicate with the patient to discuss their initial consult with the radiation oncologist and other needs. During the construction phase, patients will receive their radiation treatments in another Hendrick Health facility.

The Walker Cancer Center team will continue to coordinate care as patients’ progress through their cancer treatment journey. Communication with all our patients and families remains our priority.

Once installation of the new linear accelerator is completed, the Hendrick Walker Cancer Center will have expanded capabilities to better serve our patients in a new, comfortable area.
