One fatality, one airlifted after one-vehicle accident in Early

The City of Early Police Department posted the following on its Facebook page Sunday night:

On Sunday, Aug. 27 at approximately 6:45 p.m. officers with Early Police Department, Early Fire Department and Lifeguard EMS responded to a one-vehicle accident in the 1300 block of Early Blvd. A vehicle was traveling west bound on Early Blvd. when it left the roadway and struck a power pole then crashed against a tree on its side. A 19-year-old male was extracted from the vehicle by the fire department and was flown by Air-Evac to Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. A female died at the scene. The name is withheld pending notification to family. Early Blvd. was closed for approximately 30 minutes to land Air-Evac. The crash is under investigation at this time.

The Early Police Department is releasing names of the individuals involved in the fatality crash that occurred Sunday evening 8/27. The driver was 19-year-old Jesse Landers of Brownwood. Landers was flown to Harris Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment. Landers was wearing his seatbelt. The passenger was 53-year-old Kathy Culwell of Brownwood. Culwell died on scene and was not wearing a seatbelt. Currently the crash is still under investigation.
