Lady Dragons post 1-2 record on first day of Bronte volleyball tournament

Ava Boren (9) and the Bangs girls (6-5) will conclude tournament action Saturday.

BRONTE – The Bangs Lady Dragons picked up one victory in three matches to open the Bronte volleyball tournament Friday.

The Lady Dragons defeated Early for the third time this season after falling to Coahoma and Veribest earlier in the day.

In the victory over Early, standouts included Joey Newton with 3 receiving attempts; Neeley Bradley with 1 ace, 6 kills, 3 assists, 3 digs, 1 solo block and 2 block assists; Raylee Hutchins with 1 ace, 2 kill, 6 receiving attempts and 5 digs; Kasey Solis with 2 kills and 1 block assist; Julianna Ethridge with 3 aces, 8 service receive and 3 digs; Emily Baker with 3 aces, 1 kill, 2 dig and 1 block assist; Cloey Petty with 2 aces, 2 receiving attempts and 2 digs; Claire Auldridge with 3 block assists; Ava Boren with 6 assists, 2 receiving attempts, 4 digs and 1 block assist; and Jadyn Miller 4 kills, 1 assist, 7 receiving attempts and 9 digs.

Leading the way against Coahoma were Newton with 1 assist; Bradley with 2 aces, 3 kills, 8 assists, 2 digs and 1 block assist; Hutchins with 1 ace, 1 kill and 2 digs; Solis with 1 block assist; Ethridge with 9 service receive and 7 digs; Baker with 1 kill, 1 dig and 1 solo block; Petty with 1 ace, 5 receiving attempts and 6 digs; Auldridge with 1 kill and 1 dig; Boren with 1 ace, 1 kill, 4 assists, 3 receiving attempts and 3 digs; and Miller with 2 aces, 11 kills, 1 assist, 15 receiving attempts and 6 digs.

Versus Veribest, statistical leaders were Newton with 5 receiving attempts and 6 digs; Bradley with 1 aces, 6 kills and 10 assists; Ethridge with 15 service receives and 15 digs; Baker with 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 assist, and 3 digs; Petty with 1 ace, 5 receiving attempts and 5 digs; Boren with 2 aces, 2 kills, 3 assists, 1 receiving attempt and 2 digs; and Miller with 2 aces, 9 kills, 1 assist, 18 receiving attempts, and 8 digs.

Bangs (6-5) will conclude tournament action Saturday.
