Studebaker’s posted on its Facebook account Thursday night that it has officially closed.

The post states: “Studebaker’s is officially closed. We had to make a very tough decision to sell due to employee shortage and rising food costs. As of now the building/location will become Lemongrass. They will still serve our traditional breakfast and then transition over to their food for lunch. We appreciate everyone’s support during the past 7 years and wish the new owners the best of luck!!”

Jason and Diana Angerstein, who bought the restaurant 7 years ago, confirmed they sold Studebaker’s in June. Studebaker’s first opened its doors in 2001.

BrownwoodNews.com recently spoke with Diana Angerstein, who stated, “It’s a sad day for Brownwood and a sad day for us, too, because even before we bought it that was our favorite food. We just can’t be there all the time and we just can’t keep employees or find anybody that wants to work. Plus the cost of everything has skyrocketed and it’s just time for us to step away and have a life again.”

BrownwoodNews.com has also reached out to Lemongrass and is awaiting a response regarding the long-term plans for the Studebaker’s breakfast business as well as the current Lemongrass location on Coggin Avenue.
