Sales Tax Report for month of May

The May sales tax allocations were released this week by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.  In Brown County the City of Early had the largest increase in terms of percent.  The May sales tax allocation reflects taxable retail sales in the month of March 2023.  Details below.

BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $696,537, an increase of 1.84% compared to May 2022.  Fiscal year-to-date (October 2022 through May 2023) Brownwood has received $4,818,944, an increase of 8.38%.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $217,632, an increase of 2.07% vs. May 2022.  Fiscal year-to-date the BMDD has received $1,552,083, up 7.48%.

EARLY

The City of Early received $241,322 in May, an increase of 12.74% over May 2022.  Fiscal year-to-date Early has received $1,819,337, an increase of 19.80%.

The Early Municipal Development District received $77,848 in May, an increase of 12.75% over May 2022.  Fiscal year-to-date the Early MDD has received $594,754, up 19.75%.

BANGS

The City of Bangs received $24,249 in May, essentially even with May 2022 (down 0.48%).  Fiscal year-to-date Bangs has received $165,446, an increase of 6.92%.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $2,977 in May, down 5.64%.  Fiscal year-to-date the Bangs MDD has received $23,933, up 6.13%.
